TAKE 5 to 95

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD, conceived and directed by New York City choreographer, Candice Michelle Franklin, is a high energy, genre bending, live music concert featuring live musicians, live singers, live dancers, and even a live DJ keepin' the show shakin' and pumpin' on the one's and two's.   With the help of veteran music producer, NYCK Henry, this "concept" musical production transforms the classical Jazz standards of the American song book and remixes them into the great sounds of Funk, House, Acid Jazz, and Soul, presenting them in a way that audiences from all generations, from five to 95, can appreciate.  Special guests and big stars from Billboards' Jazz and R&B scene, are also occasionally on-hand to perform, making JAZZ AIN'T DEAD one music concert not to be missed.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD Young Audiences Initiative

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD is proud to be a part of spearheading a renewed interest into the music of the Jazz world.  By introducing today's youth and young adults to the classic songs of Jazz through the energy of pop culture, dance, slick music videos, new media, and social networking, JAZZ AIN'T DEAD has built a platform designed to promote our great jazz songs of the past, keeping them relevant in the minds of young audiences in hopes that these classics will continue to be appreciated by the young as they age.  JAZZ AIN'T DEAD produces several concert concepts to achieve this initiative.

  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Standards on Steroids
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Nu Soundz, New Grooves Series
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Celebrates the Legacy of Gershwin's Porgy & Bess
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Café
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Lounge II
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Nu Jazz ReMixed!
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  JazzHaus Club Sessions
  • JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Under the Mistletoe Holiday Jam

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Standards on Steroids

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Standards on Steroids is a classic JAZZ AIN'T DEAD music concert with live musicians, vocalists, DJ, and dancers that takes our classic jazz standards from the American songbook like the big band hits such as Sing, Sing, Sing, It Don't Mean a Thing, St. Louis Blues, and Cab Calloway's Heidi Ho and remixes them into today's music of House, Funk, Spoken Word, and Soul.  JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Standards on Steroids also explores larger bodies of work of such notable greats as Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, and Duke Ellington.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Lounge -Straight Up, No Chaser

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Lounge - Straight Up, No Chaser  is an intimate acoustic set where Jazz Ain't Dead performs classic jazz standards and new jazz songs in it's true intention... low key and totally unplugged.  Just a piano, bass, and a horn or two and our dancers will delight you with class and distinguished style.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Lounge II

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Lounge II is truly one of our "bridge" concepts in every sense of the word.  In the JAZZ AIN'T DEAD: The JAD Lounge II concerts, music from Today's R&B giants are re-arranged into soulful yet classical jazz rhythms inspired by the traditional Jazz standards of yesteryear.  New audiences can hear their favorite tunes in clever new ways while at the same time appreciating the real sound of Jazz.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Café

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  The JAD Café  is our set designed for smaller venues.  Like the JAD Lounge, this set features intimate performances of our artists doing original songs composed exclusively for Jazz Ain't Dead and by our own Chris Rob and Teodross Avery, plus funky new arranements of classic jazz, and top R&B covers re-imagined into a jazz inspired sound.  Please note that the JAD Café is not a full show like Standards on Steroids, Porgy & Bess, or Nu Soundz, Nu Grooves, but a low-key presentation with only two to four musicians and a select number of dancers.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Main Event

Jazz Ain't Dead: Main Event is our live stage show with everything but the kitchen sink.  Depending on the presenter and venue, our show features a full cast of dancers, live band, live singers, and a live DJ for a fun-filled full evening of great music and brilliant dancing.   Shows may also feature multi-media displays and concert lighting in certain venues and top recording artists from both the jazz and the R&B world as special guests.  Playlist includes jazz inspired interpretations of popular music, classical jazz standards re-ignited into house, funk, acid jazz, and soul, and original songs of Jazz Fusion by Jazz Ain't Dead.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD New Media

In addition to our live stage shows, JAZZ AIN'T DEAD plans to offer companion CD recordings featuring the JAD Band and special guest stars from Billboards' R&B and Jazz world.   Mp3 downloads and ringtones of our music is also in the works as well as DVDs of our live concerts and music videos.  Official fan merchandise can be purchased now on www.JazzAintDead.com as well as through our distributor on Zazzle.com.  Fans can visit our MySpace page at www.myspace.com/JazzAintDead,  our Facebook page at www.facebook.com/JazzAintDead, or catch our tweets at www.twitter.com/JazzAintDead.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  JazzHaus Club Sessions

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  JazzHaus Club Sessions is an all out night club House Party.  JAZZ AIN'T DEAD dancers and musicians hang out and party with our fans and fellow house heads as our very own DJ spins classic house dance anthems all night, and, of course, the new songs produced by JAZZ AIN'T DEAD.  This is not a party designed for standing around or "posers;" so, don't forget to bring your dancing shoes!  Dancers and musicians with instruments are strongly encouraged to attend.

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Nu Soundz, Nu Grooves

Jazz Ain't Dead: Nu Soundz, Nu Grooves

is our set featuring our dancers and original music by the Jazz Ain't Dead Family.  No covers or jazz standards here... This is all new music written and arranged by our band or in collaboration with our very special friends.  Series includes music performed by our very own Teodross Avery from his album, "Bridging the Gap" and "The Diva's Choice" and Chris Rob's latest release, "Mental Notes."

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Under the Mistletoe Holiday Jam

Jazz Ain't Dead: Under the Mistletoe Holiday Jam is our holiday concert featuring all classic holiday hits... in JAD syle of course.  Find out who has been naughty or nice as DJ St. Nyck works the turntables and the dancers perform live to new arrangements by the Jazz Ain't Dead band of holiday faves such as Sleigh Ride, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Rudolf the Rednose Reindeer, This Christmas, Jingle Bell Rock, Baby It's Cold Outside, Winter Wonderland, and The Christmas Song!

JAZZ AIN'T DEAD:  Nu Jazz ReMixed!

Jazz Ain't Dead: Nu Jazz ReMixed is all about young audience building for major recording artist both new and established.  The JAZZ AIN'T DEAD band, DJ and dancers share the concert stage with major Jazz artists to perform the remix versions of their latest hits live.  To initially introduce young audiences to current Jazz music and Jazz recording artists,  JAZZ AIN'T DEAD also partners with labels and recording artists to produce a slick music video to be distributed through media and social networks, and a companion CD of a remixed version of their classic jazz recordings.  We hope that getting the attention of young audiences through the mediums they know, will turn them into long time fans of these jazz artists for many years to come.  Long live JAZZ AIN'T DEAD!
